Feed My Starving Children – Social Media Brand

Feed My Starving Children (FMSC) is a non-profit organization that helps to children around the world that don’t receive the proper nutrition. This organization uses the donations they receive to buy different kinds of food and use the volunteer’s efforts to package that food. I had had the opportunity to serve a couple of times in this organization and is a great feeling of love and unity.

The FMSC organization no only uses the word to word to spread their message but they use social media also. They use different channels, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Flickr, Pinterest, YouTube, and even LinkedIn.

Regardless of which channel FMSC is using, their posts are consistent.

  • Color

FMSC keeps a simple color scheme mostly based on two different tones of blue. These two color changes or switch to keep contrast and consistency. The dark blue color matches the organization logo. In this ad, the globe is made using the two same colors.


  • Consistency

FMSC uses consistency by creating ads for their different channels by adjusting the layout to fulfill the channel requirements. In this example, the same ad is used on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. Even when the same image was used on Facebook and Twitter, the ad had to be adjusted for Instagram because of the square image requirement.


  • Rule of Thirds

Most of the image used by the organization use the rule of thirds by placing the people body or face crossing one of the vertical lines in the composition.

Feed My Starving Childre Organization publish many photos of people smiling and show not only the joy of serving others but the happiness of the people who are benefited from the organization and the volunteers’ efforts.

Airbnb is a company who operates online marketing and hospitality services to people who are looking for short-term lodging.

Many users use its website to find the perfect private place to stay. In order to thanks its customers and improve its services, Airbnb created the Airbnb Plus Campaign.

What is Airbnb Plus?
It’s a program to offer high-quality homes, equipped with all the essentials to make the guest experience the best. This program uses a selection of high rated hosts where an Airbnb representative verified in person each place to ensure comfort, consistency, and design.

The company created a series of short videos where each video shows and check a simple service that an Airbnb Plus house offer which goal is to increase the people who sign up or rent a place with them.



Analysis Principles

Value Principle: Airbnb uses each video to show a feature of the program. These videos remark simple things that can make their stay more comfortable and pleasant. These videos make the user think about previous experiences where they didn’t receive these services and increase the desire in them to have a better experience while travel by using the company Plus service.

Least Resistance: By using short, simple, and clear videos to present a single feature of the program, you can keep the user attention and share the full message of the video.

Zeitgeist Principle: Airbnb uses a diversity of people for their videos, they are different size of groups and races, this makes the audience to feel more connected to the video, it provides a more personalized experience.

One important thing to do frequently after publishing your site and run your Adwords campaign is improving your website, so your customers can have a better experience and increase your Search Engine Optimization (SEO).

What are the benefits of having a good SEO? Websites with a high SEO are positioning before low SEO websites. When users perform a search engine that contains some of your keywords users will find you before other sites.

After you run a test, if your site is loading slow, you can receive a detailed report with tips on how to increase your speed.

Increasing your SEO is not a one-time task, it takes time but is worth. Look for ways to improve your site and obtain the most you can from your money by having a high SEO website.

You finally start your online business, you started receiving traffic to your website by your Google Adwords campaign, but how you know what is working and what is not? This is what Google Analytics do.

This technology is design to analytics the performance of a website or mobile app. You can identify what pages on your site have a low or poor performance. Google Analytics shows you where your visitors came from (by typing your page, referrers, Google search, etc.), how long they stayed on your page, their behavior (what they do), and their geographic location.

You can link Google Analytics and Adwords to review the quality of your ad campaign and your landing page.

These data could be useful if you know how to interpreted and apply actions to your site. For example, you may receive a lot of visitors from different sources, especially your Google Ad, this is good because means that you are offering a demanded product or service, and/or your ad has been designed properly. But you notice that you are not selling many products or that your visitors don’t stay on your website for more than 20 seconds. This could be that your landing page is not related to your ad title and keywords. When a customer clicks on an ad, what they want is to see exactly what they are looking for. Another thing that could cause this user behavior is your content or design of your website. If users can’t easy read your content or are not organized or accurate, or they have troubles navigating on your site, they shortly will leave you and look for another option. Try to make fill your site with relevant and accurate content and make it look clean and organized. Don’t forget to keep your site easy to use.

Another example could be about your user’s location, this will help you to find if you are reaching to your pre-planed audience. If you are receiving many visitors from outside of your targeting audience, especially if you are using an AdWords campaign, you may want to reduce your location to show your ad. Its does not profit to pay for ad clicks for people in places where you don’t ship or offer your products.

Google use cookies (if these are enabled on the client’s browser) in order to know if your site is receiving new or returned visitors. If most of your visitors are returning users is a good sign that they liked your site and what you are offering. With time, this could save you money, because users will type your site instead of click on an ad where you have to pay.

Regardless your business model, product, or structure, once you have your website built, it’s time to get customers. Exists different ways to increase traffic to your website, but one easy way is by an advertising campaign.

One of the biggest advertising providers companies is Google, you can easy start a campaign using their Adwords Service, the only thing you need is a Google Account; if you don’t have one, you can get one for free.

Google Adwords consist in creating ads promoting your website. These ads are displayed on Google search when a user introduce one or more of your preselected keywords.

Keywords are words or phrases related to your business, or product. These words are important, so you need to choose your words carefully.

First, think like a customer. Organize your services or products by categories, then write down keywords from each category. Include words that describe your products or services for each category. Look for popular words or phrases that represent your business and many people use. Remember that these words are typed by the customers on a Google Search, so think like you are a customer looking for your product or service. What you would you type?

Second,  be specific. Keywords need to be focused on your possible clients. Don’t use general words, for example, if you are selling sports equipment, don’t just the keyword “sports”, this could lead you to people who are looking info about sports, scores, or anything else. General words will define increase your traffic but not your sales.

Third, pick the right number of keywords. You may select from 5-20 words or phrases per ad campaign.

Fourth, review your keywords using Google Keyword Planner. This tool will help you to know how many clicks or impressions you word can have monthly depended on your daily budget and bid. You also can find the competition for each keyword. Competition refers to how many other Google Adwords customers are paying or using the same keyword. You best panorama is having a keyword with a high number of impressions and low competition.

When you finally find your rights words, start your campaign, then keep an eye in how those words are working or not to your goals, you may want to add or delete some words or increase your bid in those words that are generating more traffic.
